What if, for one reason or another, you needed a half slip now and for one reason or another you can’t buy one nor borrow?
Well, as long as you get access to an old t-shirt and pair of scissors, that would not be a problem at all.
This works because I’m actually loving using it myself. Besides, I don’t have to flaunt it to anyone while wearing it so no one knows at all. Now you know my secret!
First, get an old t-shirt. A new one is okay too, if you don’t mind. It could be cheaper also than expensive half slips.
Cut out the top part from the armpit portion. We’ll be using the bottom part.

Fold the bottom part lengthwise so the sides would be aligned.

Cut about 2-3 inches just like how you see it in the picture. The length really depends on your waistline.

Cut out (separate) the connection to make them 4 separate ends, 2 on each side.

Unfold and tie the ends together with a square knot (left over right, right over left) so it’s easier to release with a pull-and-slide technique. Tie the second set when you have at least worn the half slip and tie the ends with a square knot as well to fit your waistline.

Now I have a red one, grey, maroon, and blue, in addition to several white ones… I wear them depending on my skirt color. I make use of my old shirts, and still have the solution to matching my skirt with my own colored half slips, without the need to spend for them.
Disclaimer: I’m the conservative type so it may not work or be a good idea for the self-conscious people.
Well, it’s the McGyver in me. Take it or leave it.
What do you think?

Hi, I love this idea! I was traveling to a wedding and forgot my slip, I wish I had thought of this. I was nuts all night staying out of the light! and not dancing.

I’ve actually stopped buying costly slips.
