How To Make Cheaper And Edible Clay
by Cecile Cinco
If you are a parent who’s got little kids, or you’re a teacher to grade school kids, or you’re a nanny, or you’re just plain crafty, you might want to dabble into edible clay.
What you need:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup salt
- water
Procedure:
Mix flour and salt; little by little add water while mixing. Make it a dough, kneading it so it would be firm.
That’s it. Form your creatures and sun dry. Or you can cook in oven. Make it as a display (the salt prevents it to be eaten by ants; preservative) or if you can take it, it’s truly non-toxic when ingested.
Just watch your kidney.
Kids love this. It’s a way to enhance their creativity. Since they enjoy the unique clay, they don’t get bored easily. If they suddenly quit claying around, it’s a lot cheaper to start with…and you don’t have colored clay smudged on your walls.
If you want to add color, you can add food color. Too much of it is no longer safe for eating. Either that or just paint your sun-dried creation when you’re ready to have it as a display and no longer for “accidental” eating.
By the way, you can also make earrings out of it. You have to bake it if this is your purpose. You can then buy some disney world tickets to flaunt your own creation there. ![]()

Well… well…edible clay..never thought I’d see something liek that.
What about adding a natural colour to it ?
And some natural flavours ?
Your blog seems quite interesting.
